Mammadali Mehdiyev, a multiple medalist of the European Judo Championships and currently a police lieutenant, has won the tournament dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Kazakhstan "Dinamo" sports society.
According to Idman.Biz, Mehdiyev defeated local judoka Yersultan Muzaffarov in the final. The remarkable point was the incredibly long duration of the match - the confrontation lasted exactly 31 minutes.
Mehman Azizov, a former famous judoka, participant of three Olympiads, currently a police lieutenant colonel and head of the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Sports Society, informed Idman.Biz about this. He was also invited to the events as an honorary guest.
Mehman Azizov stated that in addition to official events in Astana as part of the anniversary, competitions were also organized in judo, sambo, grappling, hand-to-hand combat and other sports:
"Only final matches were held. That is, the invited countries sent their strongest athletes to the tournament. Mammadali fought for 31 minutes - four minutes of regular time and an additional 27 minutes in the "Golden Score". I have been in judo for more than 40 years and I have never seen such a thing. As far as I know, the world record in official competitions is 18 minutes and several seconds. Here, however, there was a match that lasted more than half an hour. We were all very happy that he won such a tense match."
It should be noted that Mehman Azizov himself and Movlud Miraliyev, the head of the Azerbaijan Ministry of Internal Affairs Sports Society, police colonel, were also presented with commemorative medals on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Kazakhstan "Dinamo" sports society.
