Azerbaijani judoka Kanan Nasibov (+100 kg) has made great progress in the world ranking.
According to Idman.Biz, the International Judo Federation (IJF) has announced the new world ranking for judokas on the planet.
The most noticeable change in Azerbaijani judo occurred in the super-heavyweight category. Young judoka Kanan Nasibov (2055 points) suddenly advanced 11 places, completing the top 20 of the world ranking in the +100 kg category.
Nasibov's progress was due to his victory at the Grand Prix tournament held yesterday in Zagreb, Croatia. It should be noted that this year, on November 1, he also won a gold medal at the European Championship among judokas under 23 years old. He went down in history as the first Azerbaijani judoka to win the continental championship among youth.
After these successes, it can be said that Ushangi Kokauri (7th place, 3386 points), the unchanging leader of Azerbaijan in the super-heavyweight category, has faced a serious and ambitious rival for the first time in many years. K. Nasibov has won two major tournaments in a row in the last two weeks.
As for the other leaders of the team, Olympic champions Hidayat Heydarov (73 kg, 4176) and Zelim Kotsoev (100 kg, 5118), as well as judoka Eljan Hajiyev (90 kg, 3651), maintained their second places in their weight categories.
In addition, Ruslan Pashayev (66 kg, 2991) is ranked fifth, and Vugar Talibov (90 kg, 2197), who won bronze at the Zagreb Grand Prix, is in 13th place. Another bronze medalist of the tournament in Croatia, Huseyn Allahyarov (60 kg, 520), rose 65 places to 78th place. Balabay Agayev (3356), who competes in the same weight category - 60 kg, dropped from sixth to seventh place.
