"Azerbaijani judokas showed themselves well at the Guba training camp." Sport24.az reports that this was stated by Richard Trautman, the national team's performance director and head coach of the men's team, in his statement to the press service of the Judo Federation.
He emphasized that the training camp was useful:
"After the World Championship, we completed a broad preparation phase, and rest was important for the athletes. Now, Guba has become the most suitable place to get back in shape during the long summer period. The weather is very hot in Baku. The change of location increases the motivation of the athletes. The air is clean here. It is also possible to climb the mountains. The training camp was useful for us. Our main focus is on physical preparation. We are also trying to develop in ne-waza, using time effectively. We work a lot in this direction and I can say that our athletes have shown themselves well."
The expert also said that they will hold a training camp in Brazil:
"This is the first stage of our long-term preparation for the Islamic Solidarity Games. Of course, we will also participate in some Grand Prix competitions at this stage. But without special preparation. Our main goal is the Islamic Games. After this training camp, we will continue our training in Baku for another three weeks. Then we will have two weeks of general training in Brazil."
