The flag handover ceremony took place on the final day of the individual competitions at the World Judo Championships held in Budapest, the capital of Hungary.
Idman.biz reports that the flag of the International Judo Federation (IJF) was solemnly presented to Azerbaijan, which will host the World Championships in 2026.
The flag was received by the Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation, Olympic champion Elnur Mammadli. The ceremony was attended by the President of the European Judo Union Laszlo Toth, the Secretary General of the International Judo Federation Lisa Allan and other officials.
The World Judo Championship will be held in Baku next year on July 9-16. Our capital will host this prestigious tournament for the second time. The World Judo Championship was first held in Azerbaijan in 2018.
