The Azerbaijan Championship, which will start on December 5, promises intense matches to judo enthusiasts. The top seeds and the main squad of the national team will not participate in the competition, but this does not diminish the interest of the tournament. Because young judokas from the country's leading clubs will have a chance to show themselves.
What is the situation in "Judo Club 2012", one of the strongest clubs in the country, and what are the championship chances of the club's judokas?
Idman.Biz addressed the head coach of the team, Imran Imranov, with this question.
"As you know, the leaders, including the main athletes of our club, will not participate in this championship. For example, Murad Fatiyev, who was supposed to help us in the team competitions, is injured and has been out of action for a long time. Also, Fidan Alizade (57 kg), the main candidate for the gold medal in her weight category, will not participate.
However, we expect three gold medals from our judokas. We expect medals from Huseyn Allahyarov (60 kg), Nadir Talibov (66 kg), and Aslan Kotsoev (90 kg), who wants to rehabilitate after his failure at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam. As for the team competitions, our main rivals are undoubtedly two clubs - "Neftchi" and "Atilla". I hope that we will reach at least the final," said Imran Imranov.
