Olympic judo champion Hidayat Heydarov commented on being excluded from the European Championship squad.

Heydarov did not hide his disappointment at not participating in the competition: "Dear judo lovers, I will not be able to participate in the European Championship starting today in Montenegro due to illness. I regret missing the opportunity to meet you again. I can't wait for the moment when I will fully recover and return to the tatami stronger. Thank you all for your support."
It should be noted that Hidayat was excluded from the Azerbaijani national team, which will compete in the European Championship, due to illness. He was replaced by Rashid Mammadaliyev (73 kg).
