"I always believed in myself that I would win a gold medal."
Idman.Biz's correspondent, who was sent to the competition, reports that this was said by Azerbaijani judoka Hidayat Heydarov, who won a gold medal at the VI Islamic Solidarity Games held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, in a statement to journalists.
"Now it is possible that I will lose in some competitions, it happens, I am not a robot," Heydarov said.
"It's a very beautiful day. I came to the tatami to win a gold medal on such a day. It is both Victory Day and I won the first gold medal at the Islamic Games," the athlete added.
H.Heydarov also spoke about the meetings he held: "I go to every meeting with my opponent prepared. My opponents in the first and second meetings were weak. However, I look at every meeting as a final."
It should be noted that Heydarov (73 kg) won a gold medal by defeating Uzbek athlete Shakram Ahadov in the final at the VI Islamic Solidarity Games.
