The reason why Hidayat Heydarov, Azerbaijan's Olympic, world and 4-time European champion, did not compete in the "Grand Slam" held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, has been revealed. Sport24.az reports that the Judo Federation has released information about this.
It was reported that the 29-year-old athlete could not reduce his weight to 73 kg, which he had to compete in, before the competition.
As a result, he could not pass the weigh-in ceremony and had to drop out of the competition.
In accordance with the internal disciplinary rules of the Federation, appropriate measures were taken regarding Hidayat Heydarov.
It should be noted that Hidayat Heydarov was supposed to hold his first match in the 73 kg weight category against Indian Arun Kumar.
