The European Judo Championship among adults will be held in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, on April 16–19.
Idman.Biz reports that the final squad that will represent Azerbaijan at the continental competition has been determined.
15 judokas (9 men and 6 women) in 11 weight categories will compete in the prestigious tournament. Ruslan Pashayev (-66 kg), who was in the initial squad, was replaced by Turan Bayramov in the final list due to injury.
At the European Championship, our athletes will be led by Richard Trautmann, head coach of the men's team, senior coaches Elkhan Mammadov, Elchin Ismayilov, Slavko Tekic and Robert Kravcik, as well as Amina Abdellatif, head coach of the women's team, and senior coach Sasha Herkenrath-Wiemar.
Nazim Umbayev, a member of the judging panel of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation, an "A" category international judge, will also be among the representatives of justice at the tournament.
It should be noted that 404 judokas (229 men and 175 women) from 46 countries will test their strength for 14 sets of medals in the competition.
