The European Judo Championship among veterans has started in Riga, the capital of Latvia.
Idman.biz reports that our national team won a gold medal on the first day of the competition.
Farhad Rajabli, competing in the 90 kg weight category, defeated all his opponents and won the European Champion title for the 11th time in his career. Our representative, who competed in the M-8 age category, defeated Ukrainian Oleksandr Rangayev in the final with an ippon. Farhad Rajabli is also a 12-time world champion.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan is represented by 30 athletes in the competition. 855 judokas from 37 countries are competing in the continental tournament.
