The International Judo Federation (IJF) has commented on the bronze medal won by Azerbaijani judoka Eljan Hajiyev, who competes in the 90 kg weight category, at the World Championships in Budapest.
Idman.biz reports that Eljan won his first medal at the World Championships by defeating Estonian Kristofer Kalyulaid in the small final.
The IJF portal commented on the Azerbaijani judoka's performance as follows: "In the first bronze medal match, the audience watched a duel of physically strong athletes. In the first two minutes, neither side could gain an advantage. However, in the middle of the fight, Hajiyev counterattacked with a "yuko" and began to put pressure on the Estonian. As a result, this was the only successful technique in the match. Hajiyev won his first medal at the World Championships."
It should be noted that our national team already has two medals in Budapest. Prior to this, Zelim Tckaev also won a bronze medal in the 81 kg weight category.
