The European Judo Cup among juniors has ended in Berlin, the capital of Germany.
Idman.biz reports that the tournament was successful for the Azerbaijani team – our athletes won a total of 9 medals, including 1 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze.
In the final in the 90 kg weight category, Azerbaijani judokas faced each other: Tuncay Shamil defeated his teammate and younger brother of Olympic champion Zelim Kotsoev, Aslan Kotsoev, and became the champion. Suleyman Shukurov (81 kg) and Ramazan Ahmadov (+100 kg) won bronze medals.
The day before, Nihad Mamishov (60 kg), Mehdi Musayev (66 kg) and Abil Yusubov (73 kg) won silver medals, and Nizami Imranov (66 kg) and Mehdi Jafarov (73 kg) won bronze medals.
According to the quality of the medals, the Azerbaijani men's team ranked first among 34 countries. In the overall team standings, our national team was third after France and Germany.
