Azerbaijani judokas won 3 medals on the first day of the Grand Prix held in Guadalajara, Mexico.
"Report" reports that Balabay Aghayev (60 kg) won a gold medal by defeating Brazilian representative Michel Augusto with an ippon in the final.
Ruslan Pashayev (66 kg) became the champion by defeating Lukas Saha (Finland) in the final. Ahmad Yusifov (60 kg) defeated Frenchman Enzo Jean in the match for third place.
Yashar Najafov lost to Cypriot representative Georgios Balayishvili (Cyprus) in the 1/16 finals.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan is represented in the competition by 11 athletes in a total of 7 weight categories. 231 judokas (142 men, 89 women) from 33 countries participated in the tournament.
