Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, will host the next prestigious judo competition on March 20–22.
"Report" informs that the Azerbaijani national team will also compete in the Grand Slam tournament, which will be held according to the calendar of the International Judo Federation.
The national team will participate in the competition under the leadership of Elchin Ismayilov and Robert Kravchik, senior coaches of the men's team, Amina Abdellatif, head coach of the women's team, and Sasha Herkenrat-Vimar, senior coach.
Azerbaijan will be represented at the tournament by a total of 11 judokas (6 men, 5 women) in 7 weight categories.
406 athletes (250 men, 156 women) from 52 countries will test their strength in the three-day competition. Nazim Umbayev, a member of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation's referee panel and an "A" category international referee, will also be among the representatives of justice in the tournament, which is part of the World Tour series.
In the Azerbaijani national team, Rashad Yelkiyev and Turan Bayramov in the 66 kg weight category, Kamran Suleymanov and Hidayat Heydarov in the 73 kg, and Jamal Gamzatkhanov and Kenan Nasibov in the +100 kg will compete among men. Among female judokas, Konul Aliyeva in the 48 kg, Leyla Aliyeva in the 52 kg, Sudaba Agayeva and Aytaj Gardashkhanli in the 70 kg, and Madina Kaisinova in the +78 kg weight category will represent Azerbaijan.
