Azerbaijani judoka Nazir Talibov (60 kg), who won a gold medal at the European Cup held in Gori, Georgia, stated that there were no weak opponents in the competition.
The 24-year-old athlete made a statement to "Report" about this.
He shared his impressions of the tournament:
"All the meetings were quite intense. I didn't face any weak opponents here. Almost all of them were strong judokas. Nevertheless, I won all the meetings, became a champion and played the Azerbaijani Anthem."
N. Talibov also spoke about his future goals:
"I will prepare well for the next tournaments as well. After that, my goal is to achieve success in bigger competitions. I want our anthem to be played constantly in international arenas."
It should be noted that Azerbaijani judokas finished the European Cup with 4 medals. Nazir Talibov (66 kg) won gold, Babarahim Mirzayev (60 kg) and Muharram Imamverdiyev (81 kg) won silver, and Nariman Mirzayev (73 kg) won bronze.
