Our country will host the European Judo Cup among juniors for the fourth time.
Idman.Biz reports that the competition, which is included in the official calendar of the European Judo Union, will be held on April 4–5 at the Ganja Sports Palace.
Rashad Rasul, Executive Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation, said that Azerbaijan has extensive experience in organizing international judo competitions.
"Azerbaijan has been successfully hosting prestigious international judo tournaments for many years. In this regard, our country is already known as a reliable and professional organizer. In connection with the World Championship among adults to be held in October this year, the attention of the international judo community will once again be focused on Azerbaijan. The organization of the European Cup among juniors in Ganja before this prestigious competition is of particular importance. 210 athletes from 13 countries have already registered for this competition. Holding the tournament in Ganja after Goygol and Guba gives an additional impetus to the development of judo in the regions, and also creates conditions for our young athletes to gain important experience in a high-level international competition environment. The organization of such competitions in the regions contributes to the further popularization of judo throughout the country and the formation of a healthy sports base for future success," said Rasul.
It should be noted that after the tournament, an international training camp for young judokas will be held in Ganja on April 6–8.
