Anar Guliyev (50 kg), the Azerbaijani representative who won a bronze medal at the World Junior Judo Championships held in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, wants to become the European and world champion in the youth category.
The athlete made a statement to the "Report" employee who was sent to the tournament about this.
He shared his thoughts on being third in the world:
"I could have achieved a better result. But I was satisfied with the bronze medal. I gave a little space in the ground in the match I lost. That's why it turned out like this. My Kazakh opponent, whom I lost in the 1/4 final, also won a bronze medal. I have faced the Uzbek athlete who won the gold medal before. At that time, I faced him in the final in the 46 kg weight category. But I lost".
A.Guliyev emphasized that he will compete in the youth category next year:
"This was almost my last competition among juniors. I have been a European champion among juniors. In addition to Europe, I am also aiming to become a world champion in youth. My main goal in my career is to become an Olympic champion among adults".
It should be noted that individual competition at the World Championship will end on August 30. The mixed team competition will take place on August 31.
