"The competition was held at a high level".
This was stated to Idman.biz by Ahmad Yusifov, a judoka of the Azerbaijani national team.
He assessed his performance at the European Championship held in Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro. Yusifov, who rose to the third step of the podium in the 60 kg weight category, said that his rivals were strong enough: "I prepared very seriously for the competition. My goal was to become a champion. Unfortunately, I had to settle for third place. All my opponents were strong. In my opinion, the strongest were the French athlete Luka Mkheidze and the Spaniard Francisco Garrigos. Although I defeated one of them, I lost to the other".
Yusifov wants to turn bronze into gold in the next championship: "In the next competition, I will try my best to be first. My main goals are the gold of the World Championship and the Olympics. We are working for this goal".
It should be noted that Yusifov, who faced Spaniard Francisco Garrigos for the bronze medal, won the three-time European champion with an ippon and won the first medal for our team at the European Championship.
