Zaur Pashayev, the captain of the "Quba" club, talked about the recent matches and the overall course of the season.
Idman.Biz reports that he associated the main reason for the team's loss to "Sarhadchi" in the game with complacency and stated that this gave the opponent extra strength.
Pashayev said that although they were ahead by 15–17 points at certain moments of the match, carelessness changed the course of the game in the last minutes: "You can't give gaps in such meetings. Basketball is a 40-minute game. A moment's rest causes the opponent to come back."
The captain added that there was a serious conversation after the meeting with the players, and the team is already fully preparing for the next match against "Ordu". According to him, they know the opponent well and will fight for victory.
Pashayev noted that the team's reserve bench is not weak: "Last year, the budget of Group B was different, this season it is different. This year, the B League is more like a 2nd League test. Young people play, they take time."
He emphasized that although they started the season well, three consecutive defeats put the team in a difficult situation, but they still have a chance to rise to both the first and second steps.
The experienced basketball player noted that the level of the championship has increased, and the transition to the Super League and 2nd League model will be beneficial for Azerbaijani basketball: "There has almost never been such a championship in our country. It would be more interesting if the Super League had 10 teams and the 2nd League had 6 teams."
Pashayev also stated that the club is looking for a sponsor: "ABF supports us. If we find an additional sponsor, we will become even stronger. All teams in Group B want to be leaders, and so do we."
