Shahriyar Asgarov, head coach of "Quba," shared his thoughts after the match in the 20th round of the regular season of the Azerbaijan Basketball League, where they lost to "Nakhchivan" with a score of 96:103.
Idman.Biz reports that the specialist said the following in a statement to the club's press service.
"We knew that the game against "Nakhchivan" would be difficult. Because they are a strong team. They have a balanced squad. I congratulate them. They will join the playoffs from the 2nd place. They will probably stay in the "top eight." Our goal was also to win and play with them again in the playoffs. But we lost this game at the end due to the mistakes of the basketball players. I mean technical mistakes. They were late to foul. The opponent made a three-point shot. We also failed to score the necessary point during the technical foul. The match also went into overtime. There, we couldn't change the players. Three of our players were on the court for 40 minutes. This in itself is a big factor. Chris Clark left the court early with 5 fouls, which also affected the game. When we take all these issues into account, it can be said that today was not our day. If Chris Coons had made the free throw accurately after the technical foul, we probably would have won the game, the game wouldn't have come to this situation. Fatigue also took its toll. I thank my basketball players. They did their best. Our opponent was strong. We continue our journey in the play-in stage. Probably our opponent will be the "Shaki" team from group A. We will try to fight against them in the same way and win to stay in the "top eight." I thank my basketball players and we continue our journey," he said.
