Rustam Aliyev, a basketball player from "Ordu", gave an interview to the club's press service.
Idman.biz reports that the team captain assessed his performances this season and talked about his future plans.
- How was the current season for the team?
- Not every team has the opportunity to participate in the playoffs with a low budget. We qualified for the playoffs with a low budget and even a shortage of players, fighting hard. In addition, we played head-to-head with "Neftchi" in the first match of the final stage. There was a problem with local players in the squad. In addition, there were not many legionnaires to rotate. For example, when our main playmaker Ramme Griffin was injured, it was difficult to replace him. We had difficulties in such situations because our reserve forces were weak. I am absolutely sure that we could have done more if there were no problems in rotation. In any case, I think that "Ordu" has already formed as a team.
- What can you say about the game in the league?
- I played in "Sabah" for two years. Their goals are completely different and that is why it is very difficult to get into the squad. Therefore, there is very little opportunity to show yourself. In "Ordu", I am considered one of the main players. The coach often built the game on me. This factor played a significant role in my development. It was as if I rediscovered myself. Therefore, I would like to thank Alberto Blanco. He taught me which positions I could be more useful in. I have a lot of confidence in myself now. Although the injuries set me back a lot, I have already started physical exercises to be fully prepared for the next season.
- Where will you continue your career? Will you stay in "Ordu", or are there other offers?
- To be honest, I have not yet received an offer to stay in "Ordu". If there is an offer, we will talk. Of course, everything will depend on the club's budget and goals. It is difficult to say anything now. I believe that what is good for both the club and me will happen.
