Idman.biz reports that the city's mayor, David Holt, has declared May 22 as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Day.
The mayor shared a post on his social media account about this: "On behalf of the people of Oklahoma City, I congratulate our beloved Shai Gilgeous-Alexander on being selected as the MVP of the NBA regular season! For the third time in our city's history, it has become the home of the world's greatest basketball player. Taking into account Shai's historic achievement and his unique contributions to the Oklahoma City Thunder, I declare May 22 as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Day."
It should be noted that the Oklahoma City Thunder advanced to the Western Conference Finals in the playoffs and took a 2-0 lead in the series against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
