"Neftchi"'s American basketball player: "I love Azerbaijan, Baku gives me positive energy" - INTERVIEW

An interview with AZERTAC by Pet Beykon, an American player of the "Neftchi" team, which advanced to the semi-finals of the Azerbaijan Basketball League.

- You advanced to the semi-finals by winning both games against the "Ordu" team in the play-off stage of the Azerbaijan Basketball League. What can you say about this?

- I think we played very well. It can be considered a good result for us that "Ordu" scored only 54 points in the second game. Because the opponent is really a good ball-holding team. I think if we play like this in defense, our job will become even more difficult. Our main goal is to be together as much as possible and continue this until the end.

- How do you think, can you reach the final and become the national champion?

- Yes, we can make it happen. Because we have good players and coaching staff. If we can show our performance, we can become the champion of Azerbaijan.

- As a legionnaire player, how do you assess the level of the Azerbaijan Basketball League?

- This league is competitive. All teams competing in the championship have a chance to win every game. It is difficult to say in advance who will win.

- What are your impressions about Azerbaijan?

- I love this country. I met very nice people here. The city of Baku is amazing. To be honest, I was playing in Africa before I came here and I was in bad shape. I wanted to open a new page in my career, and everything was great after I signed a contract with "Neftchi".

- You said you liked our country. So, what are your favorite places here?

- I like going to the city center. There are restaurants serving great food here. Most importantly, the magnificent view of the city fascinates people. My mood improves even more when I go there. This city gives me positive energy.

- Have you had any interesting incidents in Azerbaijan?

- Once, while I was in the city center, I walked a monkey of a person I didn't know. This incident seemed funny and interesting to me.

- Apart from basketball, what other sports are you interested in?

- I love football and volleyball very much. I would even like to watch a game of the Azerbaijan football championship before the end of the season.

- Are you thinking of staying in Azerbaijan longer?

- It depends on my contract. Of course, if "Neftchi" offers me a new contract, I will gladly stay.
