"I feel very good, my physical condition is excellent. As for my performance, I think I need to be more aggressive in attack and I will increase it in the upcoming games."
Idman.Biz reports that NTD basketball player Cessi Gi said this in an interview with the club's press service.
We present that interview.
NTD lost to Neftchi in the last game. In your opinion, what were the main reasons for this defeat?
We didn't play aggressive defense for all 40 minutes of the game and we couldn't fight hard enough in rebounds. We started the game well and were aggressive on defense. But at the beginning of the third quarter, we couldn't maintain the tempo and Neftchi took advantage of it and gained the advantage. To be successful with this squad, we especially need to play as a team in defense. If we can do this for 40 minutes, it will be very difficult to defeat us. Attack is not our problem. The main issue is defense.
You have recently joined the team. How do you feel and how would you rate your physical condition?
I feel very good, my physical condition is excellent. As for my performance, I think I need to be more aggressive in attack and I will increase it in the upcoming games. At the same time, I will try to make my teammates more effective and highlight their strengths.
What made you choose NTD?
NTD has been a successful club for many years. I came here because I believed I could benefit the team. I think I've already started contributing, but I can do better. My first games were a bit difficult, but now I'm adapting to the system better. I want to give the team the contribution it needs. There are already good players on the team. Victories await us together.
You played in Azerbaijan two years ago, in the "Khirdalan" club. How do you assess the current level of the Azerbaijan Basketball League?
The league has come a long way in the last two years. Competition has become even stronger and this is very gratifying. Baku is like my second home now. It was amazing that the league made so much progress in two years. I believe that in the future, the Azerbaijan Basketball League will become one of the strongest leagues in Europe.
The next game will be against Ganja. What are your expectations from this match?
My expectation is simple - victory. "Ganja" is a good team, but not invincible. If we pay attention to the points we can control - defense, aggression in rebounds, communication and discipline on the field, we can achieve the result we want. If we play correct and disciplined basketball for all 40 minutes of the game, we can be successful against all opponents. All of us - players and coaches - are working towards one goal. We must stay together even in difficult times. We have all the components for victory, we just need to combine them and achieve the great goal - victories.
