Bedri Meriç, the head coach of the "Shaki" team, which lost to "Ganja" (73:84) at home in the last round of the regular season in the Azerbaijan Basketball League, shared his thoughts on the game. The experienced specialist assessed both his team's performance and touched on the incidents that occurred during the match.
Idman.Biz reports that Bedri Meriç, while congratulating his opponent, did not hide his dissatisfaction with some moments on the field.
"We congratulate our opponent and wish them success in the playoffs. Despite our squad problems, I am happy with the fight my players showed. They stayed in the game for most of the match, and we could have even won. Except for rebounds, I am satisfied with my team's performance today," said the head coach.
The head coach drew special attention to the events that occurred three minutes and 43 seconds before the end of the third period:
"Today, unforeseen events occurred in the match. These initially happened independently of us. However, despite being the home team and trying to take control of the situation,
we encountered actions that did not fit into fair play. If you do such things on the field, you must be prepared for the consequences. We reacted to this.
It's not a big deal, such things happen. Even this tension had a good effect on us in terms of the tough fight before the play-in."
Meriç, stating that they are focused on the decisive stage of the season, emphasized that he believes in victory:
"We are waiting for our play-in match with full motivation. We have prepared for our opponent from the beginning. Now it's just time to show our strength on the field. I fully trust my players."
