The Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation has responded to reports regarding the new appointment of Asif Shiraliyev, the representative of the head of the Shamakhi City Executive Power and an international referee.
The Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation gave a statement to Idman.Biz regarding the issue.
It was stated that one of the main goals of the federation is to specialize the refereeing profession:
"It is planned to increase the quantity and quality in this field, to organize activities more systematically, and to improve the licensing process. If a new appointment is made to any position in the Referees Committee, the AGF will officially inform the public about it."

Asif Shiraliyev, the representative of the head of the Shamakhi City Executive Power and an international referee, may be appointed as the chairman of the Referees Committee of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation in the coming days.
According to the information obtained by Idman.Biz, 44-year-old Shiraliyev has had international referee status since 2008 and has represented our country in many prestigious international tournaments, including the Tokyo and Paris Summer Olympic Games.
In addition, Asif Shiraliyev has been working as the representative of the head of the executive power in Shamakhi since January 2021.
He stated in his statement to Idman.Biz that no official decision has been made by the federation in this regard yet.
Currently, the Referees Committee of the federation is headed by 69-year-old Garib Aliyev.
