Wrestler Mahammad Abdullazade, who was penalized for 48 months due to a positive doping test, has not participated in any international competitions and has not been a member of the Azerbaijani national team.
This was stated by Sarkhan Musayev, the press secretary of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation, in an interview with "Report".
He said that the wrestler at best took third place in the national youth championship:
"Mahammad Abdullazade has not participated in any international competitions. He wrestled in the Azerbaijan Youth Championship. If I am not mistaken, he failed a doping test at that competition. He has never been a member of the national team and has no serious results. At best, he took third place in the Azerbaijan Championship. After each championship, test samples are taken from athletes who win medals. Mahammad's test came back positive, so he was disqualified. However, this happened after the Azerbaijan Championship held at the end of January and the beginning of February 2024."
It should be noted that Mahammad Abdullazade has been disqualified for 4 years due to the presence of a prohibited substance or its metabolites or markers in his sample. The date of entry into force of the sanction is indicated as March 15 of last year. The term of the sentence will end on March 15, 2028.
