"There are no weak opponents at the European Championship".
These words were said by Vasif Bagirov, Azerbaijani freestyle wrestler who won a silver medal at the U-23 European Championship held in Zrenjanin, Serbia.
The athlete, competing in the 57 kg weight category, explained his second place as follows.
"I didn't have enough stamina in the decisive match. I came here for a gold medal. But I came second, I'm still grateful. The World Championship awaits us. I want to show myself in a good light at that tournament and raise the Azerbaijani flag to the heights," he said in a statement to AZERTAC.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan currently has a total of five medals, including two silver and three bronze. The U-23 European Championship will end on March 15.
