Azerbaijani wrestlers continue their performances at the U-23 World Championship. Sport24.az reports that the Wrestling Federation has released information about this.
It was reported that Ziya Babashov, in the 63 kg weight category in Greco-Roman wrestling, defeated Japanese Miruto Tokuhiga 7:1 and Iranian Mohammad Navid 3:1. Later, in the match with Russian Dordji Shungurtsikov (UWW), Babashov, who was superior based on the principle of the first point with a score of 1:1, advanced to the semi-finals. In the semi-finals, Ziya Babashov will face Turkish Servet Angi.
In the 77 kg weight category, Davud Mammadov lost to Hungarian Levente Levai 0:5 in the qualifying stage.
At 87 kg, Lachin Valiyev lost to Iranian Gholamreza Farukhisencan 0:8 in the qualifying stage.
In the 130 kg weight category, Aykhan Mardanov defeated Chinese Shuangyu Chen with a "pin" and advanced to the 1/4 finals. However, he lost to Russian Aleksandr Melekhov (UWW) 0:9 in this stage.
