The U17 European Wrestling Championship, held in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia, will conclude today.
Idman.biz reports that four of our freestyle wrestlers, who defended Azerbaijan's medal chances on the last day of the competition, stepped onto the mat.
Hasan Hasanov (60 kg) lost to Zorab Aloyev (Ukraine) 4:5 in the final and became the silver medalist of the U17 European Championship.
Said Pashayev (92 kg) defeated Russian Abdurazak Shabanov 6:5 in the final and became the U17 European Champion.
Ramal Mirhuseynov (51 kg), who defeated Bugra Kavaka (Turkey) 2:1 in the consolation round, then defeated Vahan Azaryan (Armenia) 10:6 and won the bronze medal of the U17 European Championship.
Omar Usubov (45 kg) is also continuing his fight for a bronze medal.
Currently, the Azerbaijani team has 9 medals - 4 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze. Rihad Ibrahimli (110 kg), Abdulrahman Huseynli (45 kg), Ravan Hasanzade (48 kg) and Ruslan Alizade (55 kg) became European champions. Ali Nazarov (60 kg) won silver, Gurban Majnunov (48 kg), Nijat Yeylagaliyev (80 kg), Nazrin Ahmadli (46 kg) and Hakim Tagiyev (110 kg) won bronze medals.
