U-17 European Championship: Azerbaijani wrestlers have a chance for 1 gold and 2 bronze medals

The U-17 European Wrestling Championship started today in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia.

Idman.biz reports that Greco-Roman wrestlers joined the competition on the first day of the championship, which will end on June 15.

3 of the 5 athletes of the Azerbaijani national team who took to the mat qualified for the semi-finals.

Qurban Majnunov defeated Hungarian Gergo Zatko (11:2) and Turkish Baris Soylu (6:1) in his debut and advanced to the semi-finals. He wrestled against Armenian Martin Manjikyan in the semi-final. Although the score was 6:6, the opponent won due to the quality point. Qurban will face Nikolaos Zinisa (Greece) for the bronze medal.
