U-17 European Championship: 3 of our Greco-Roman wrestlers in the semifinals

The U-17 European Wrestling Championship kicked off today in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia.

Idman.biz reports that Greco-Roman wrestlers joined the competition on the first day of the championship, which will end on June 15.

3 out of 5 athletes of the Azerbaijani national team who took to the mat qualified for the semi-finals.

Gurban Majnunov defeated Gergő Zatko of Hungary (11:2) and Barış Soylu of Turkey (6:1) in his debut to advance to the semi-finals. He will wrestle against Martin Manjikyan of Armenia in the semi-finals.

Although Aykhan Asadli defeated Aleksandr Beliakov of Belarus with a score of 6:3, he lost to Danil Lozhkin of Russia in the 1/4 finals by "touch".

Ramil Musayev defeated Alessio Arancio of Italy by "touch" and advanced to the 1/8 finals. However, in this stage, he lost to Vladislav Salavyov of Belarus with a score of 3:5.

Nijat Yeylagaliyev defeated Jáchim Jabůrek of the Czech Republic (8:0), Stefanos Vasdekis of Greece (6:1) and Giorgi Ormotsadze of Georgia (9:0) to advance to the semi-finals. Our wrestler will face Benediktas Bubelevičius of Lithuania in the semi-finals.
