Two Azerbaijani wrestlers will compete for a bronze medal, and one will compete in a consolation match at the U-23 World Championships

The U-23 World Championships continue in Novi Sad, Serbia.

Lent.az reports that members of the Azerbaijani national teams in both women's and freestyle wrestling have taken to the mat.

Elnura Mammadova (53 kg) won convincingly (9:0) against Turkish Sıla Aykul, but lost to Spaniard Karla Soler with a score of 11:14 in the 1/4 finals.

Gunay Gurbanova (59 kg) defeated Bulgarian Viktoriya Boynova in her debut - 8:1. Our compatriot won ahead of schedule in the next stages against Moldovan Madalina Prisakari (11:0) and Kazakh Viktoriya Khusainova (fall). Gunay, who faced Japanese Ruka Natami in the semi-finals, lost the victory in the last seconds - 1:3. Gurbanova will wrestle for a bronze medal tomorrow.

Birgul Soltanova (62 kg) lost to Russian Ekaterina Koshkina by "fall" in the qualifying stage.

Magomed-Bashir Khaniyev (74 kg) won with a full advantage (10:0) over Greek Georgios Ioakeimidis in the first stage. Our representative was stronger than Armenian Grigor Cholakyan in the 1/8 finals - 14:5. Khaniyev advanced to the semi-finals by defeating Bahrain representative Magomedrasul Asluyev with a score of 7:3. Khaniyev lost to Turkish Muhammed Ozmus at the doorstep of the final - 3:7. Magomed-Bashir will wrestle for a bronze medal tomorrow.

Sadig Mustafazade (92 kg) eliminated Spaniard Mukhhamedsultan Kopbayev from the competition with a full advantage (10:0), but failed to cope with Iranian Mohammadmobin Azimi in the 1/8 finals - 0:8. Our compatriot will go to the consolation match tomorrow.
