Azerbaijani veteran wrestler Taleh Mammadov stated that holding the U-15 national championship in Gazakh city is of great importance for the development of wrestling in the regions.
Idman.Biz reports that in his statement to the press service of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation, he said that organizing such competitions in the regions will greatly contribute to attracting young athletes to wrestling and increasing their interest in this sport.
T. Mammadov noted that one of the main goals is to involve more children living in the regions in sports and to identify new talents:
"The 15-year-old group is such a category that the number of international competitions held abroad for athletes of this age is not very high. For this reason, in previous years, some young wrestlers faced certain difficulties when they participated in the European Championship directly from national competitions. That is why organizing the competition by the federation is a very correct and important step. Children gain experience in this competition. Later, they get used to the atmosphere of the competition at the European Championship and experience less excitement."
According to Taleh Mammadov, the holding of the U-15 national championship once again shows that the organization of wrestling competitions in our country is developing year by year and is organizationally approaching the level of European and world championships. This is of great importance for the future of Azerbaijani wrestling.
