The Azerbaijan Wrestling Championship in Greco-Roman style, held at the Baku Sports Palace, has come to an end.
Taleh Mammadov, a well-known Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestler who completed his performances last year, followed the championship with interest.
Idman.Biz asked the athlete about the wrestlers who attracted his attention the most and about the "discovery" of this championship.
"This championship was remembered not only for its high organization, but also for its interesting matches and new names. I highly appreciate the performance of 18-year-old Aykhan Javadov, who is a world and European champion in small age groups. Despite the fact that it was his first performance among adults, he was magnificent and can be called a real discovery of the championship!
Also, Elmir Aliyev (55 kg), Farid Khalilov (67 kg) and Farayim Mustafayev (72 kg) performed well. It is gratifying that in some weight categories we already have two competitive wrestlers, which is very useful for the national team, it is easier for coaches to make changes in case of injury before serious international competitions," said Taleh Mammadov.
