The "Swiss Days" event was held on Baku Boulevard.
Idman.Biz reports that Giyan Odermatt, Karim Leuppi, Andrin Poltera and Daniel Bösch, who are engaged in the traditional "Schwingen" wrestling of this country, competed with the wrestlers of our national wrestling at the event organized by the Swiss Embassy in Azerbaijan in cooperation with the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation (AGF).
It was reported that the musical and entertaining ceremony held within the framework of the exchange of experience aroused great interest among the audience. The Swiss Ambassador to our country, Thomas Stähli, and the Secretary General of AGF, Parvin Piriyev, as well as other officials of the federation, stated that this action greatly contributes to the sharing of the techniques, traditions and values of athletes of both countries, strengthening international sports relations, and promoting mutual understanding through the universal language of wrestling. Such initiatives bring wrestling closer to people, create sincere relations between our well-known athletes and local people, and encourage young people to engage in sports. In the future, it is planned to organize joint training camps for the teams of the two countries and strengthen cooperation in this sport.
It should be noted that "Schwingen" is a type of folk wrestling held on a yongar (wooden chip) and is considered one of the most popular and symbolic national sports of Switzerland.
