"The competition was very difficult for me".
Idman.biz reports that this was stated to Offsideplus.az by Ruzanna Mammadova (62 kg), a wrestler of the Azerbaijani U-20 national team.
Evaluating her performance at the U-20 European Championship held in Caorle, Italy, the athlete said that the gold medal was not easy to obtain: "I suffered a very serious injury during the training camp in Turkey before the competition. I almost had to remain immobile for a while. That injury set me back a lot, otherwise I could have wrestled better. Moreover, I got sick after arriving in Italy. I wrestled with a fever of 39 degrees until the semi-finals. My most difficult match was against Russian Ekaterina Radysheva in the semi-finals. The main thing is that I won. I am satisfied with the result I achieved".
Mammadova also spoke about her next goals: "My next goal is to become a world champion among young people. The most important thing is to win a ticket to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and represent our country there properly. The results I have achieved today are part of the road to the Olympics".
It should be noted that Ruzanna Mammadova has become the European champion among young people for the second time in a row.
