The wrestler stated that he dedicated his championship to his mother: "It is gratifying to be a European champion. This is my first gold medal in my first continental championship. The world championship awaits us ahead, and I will prepare for it now. My goal is to raise our flag by winning a gold medal at the world championship as well. We will not take a break from preparation and we believe in the next victories. I dedicate my European championship to my mother."
It should be noted that Ibrahimli, who ended the 10-year gold medal longing in the heavyweight category, defeated Ukrainian Anatoli Novachenko in the semi-final of the European Championship and Bulgarian Denis Lazarov in the final.
