"Two years ago, in this very country, Albania, in Tirana, I won a silver medal at the European Championship. This time I wanted to replace that medal with gold, but unfortunately, it was not meant to be. However, I am happy that I did not return empty-handed to my homeland again."
These words were said by wrestler Rashad Mammadov, who won a bronze medal in the 55 kg weight category at the European Championship, to the Idman.Biz employee assigned to Albania after the final match.
He emphasized that he hopes to face the current European champion Emin Sefershayev (UWW) again in the future:
"Many more competitions await us ahead, I believe that we will meet again. I don't think this defeat will happen again."
The competitions were also watched by multiple world and European champion, famous Azerbaijani wrestler Eldaniz Azizli. Mammadov said that his support was of great importance:
"His presence here was a great stimulus for me. Before the meeting, he gave me his advice. But unfortunately, I had certain shortcomings."
