There are no obstacles for Rafiq Huseynov, who was appointed coordinator at the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation (AGF), to achieve his goals in his new position.
The former Greco-Roman wrestler, who finished his career at the age of 37, made a statement to "Report" about this.
The bronze medalist of the Tokyo Olympics, 2-time world and 3-time European champion said that he will be among the athletes:
"Ending a career is not an easy decision. I have been working as a wrestler for 30 years. It's kind of changing the pace of life. Therefore, it may create psychological difficulties for me. On the one hand, I think that I have not left the wrestling hall. I am still among the athletes. This gives me a little comfort. I can handle stressful situations".
R. Huseynov spoke about his career lasting up to 37 years:
"When a person loves a job, he should enjoy it. I loved and enjoyed this job. That's why I continued until this age, it was comfortable. I never thought about ending my career. But everything has an end. I am sure that the young people who will come after me will surpass my results. Gurban Gurbanov is performing in this weight and is already a European champion. He will also have his say at the world championship in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia".
The former athlete, who will perform the duties of the Greco-Roman wrestling coordinator at AGF, also shared his views on his appointment:
"Our main goals are to coordinate problematic issues in Greco-Roman wrestling. At the same time, we will also pay attention to teams of lower age groups. We have some tasks ahead of us. In addition, when the management gives an instruction regarding any issue, we will also give our opinion. At least we have some experience in this field. In this regard, the work does not create difficulties for me and there are no obstacles to achieving my goals".
