The competition will feature wrestling in the freestyle and Greco-Roman styles in Olympic weight categories. According to the regulations, the wrestling competitions at the Universiade, in which student athletes aged 17-25 will participate, will be held on September 6-7 in the sports hall of the "Ruh Ordo" cultural center.
In freestyle wrestling, Vasif Bagirov (57 kg), Musa Agayev (65 kg), Ramik Heybatov (74 kg), Ashraf Ashirov (86 kg), Islam Ilyasov (97 kg) and Yusif Dursunov (125 kg) will try to succeed under the guidance of senior coach Arif Abdullayev and coach Ashraf Aliyev.
In Greco-Roman wrestling, our country will be represented by Vedat Gasimli (60 kg), Roman Kerimov (67 kg), Javad Mammadov (77 kg), Orkhan Hajiyev (87 kg), Ali Guliyev (97 kg) and Mazaim Mardanov (130 kg) under the guidance of coaches Akif Aliyev and Zohrab Abbasov.
On September 6, the winners in freestyle wrestling at 57, 74 and 97 kg and in Greco-Roman wrestling at 60, 77 and 97 kg will be determined. The next day, the names of the medalists in other weight categories will be clarified.
