Azerbaijan's Greco-Roman wrestlers showed high results at the U-20 European Championship held in Caorle, Italy.
"Report" reports that this was stated by the senior coach of the national team, Nureddin Rajabov, in a statement to the press service of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation.
The expert said that they were slightly behind the Georgian team in points and therefore took second place:
"The strongest wrestlers in Europe participated in the competition. I thank our federation, which organizes our domestic and foreign training camps. The medals we won are the result of this. I am grateful to everyone who contributed to these successes. 30 percent of our wrestlers were injured. True, we could have won more gold medals. We are thankful for this as well. I think we showed good results. Our main goal is to properly prepare wrestlers for adults. I believe that these children will become Olympic medalists, even champions."
It should be noted that the Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestling team took 2nd place in the team standings with one gold, three silver and two bronze medals at the U-20 European Championship.
