The European Wrestling Championship is being held in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. Sport24.az reports that the Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestling team will start the competition today with 5 athletes.
Eldaniz Azizli (55 kg), Murad Mammadov (63 kg), Sanan Suleymanov (77 kg), Islam Abbasov (87 kg) and Beka Kandelaki (130 kg) will compete on the mat.
Medal matches in these weights will be held tomorrow.
At the same time, Jala Aliyeva (57 kg), one of our women wrestlers, will compete for a bronze medal today. She will face Jenna Hemyai (Finland).
Jala was injured in the semi-final and lost the match.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan has won 6 medals in the competition. Our freestyle wrestlers won 1 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze medals. Our team became the European champion in the team standings with this result.
