Osman Nurmagomedov (92 kg), a member of the national freestyle wrestling team, gave an interview to the federation's press service.
Idman.biz reports that he evaluated his preparation before the World Championship and talked about his chances.
– You had a training camp in Turkey in August. The final preparation process took place in Baku. What can you say about this?
– The training camp in Turkey went well. 4-5 teams participated in the preparation process. More emphasis was placed on training on the carpet, and we worked on mistakes. In the training camp in Baku, preference was given to test meetings. We finished without injuries. Everything is fine. The children are also in good shape.
– How is the mood in the team?
– The team's mood is good. We held high-level meetings. Our wrestlers are focused on victory.
– Do you consider yourself fully prepared for the competition?
– I feel good. Everything is in order.
– You have been defeated several times in the finals of the world and European championships. What is the final syndrome related to?
– I was very close to victory in all of them. I guess there was a lack of sports luck in those meetings.
– Who are the main competitors?
– There are many strong opponents in 92 kg. I have analyzed their weak and strong sides. I know how to beat them.
– What details are you working on to improve your individual qualities?
– We paid attention to working on parterre, working with legs. We also devoted time to the end of the meeting. This also allowed us to gain good shape.
– Are you ready to end the 8-year gold medal longing in freestyle wrestling?
– First of all, I want to prove to myself that I can be a world champion. I will do my best for this.
– Since 92 kg is a non-Olympic weight, in which weight do you plan to wrestle at the next Olympic Games?
– If my health allows and there are no serious injuries, I plan to move to 97 kg in the future.
