The 2nd stage of the Beach Wrestling World Series held in Poreč, Croatia has come to an end.
Idman.biz reports that 2 wrestlers represented our country at the competition, which lasted for two days, under the leadership of head coach Oyan Nazariani.
Vusal Aliyev (80 kg), who won 2 victories in group B yesterday, defeated American Rodrick Law 4:0 in his last match in the group today. Aliyev, who qualified for the semi-finals as the group leader, lost to Ukrainian Vasil Mikhailov – 0:2. Vusal faced Law again in the bronze medal match and signed a 3:0 victory in just 13 seconds, rising to the third step of the podium in his debut competition.
Ibrahim Yusubov (90 kg), who has been a 3-time world champion in this category, also completed the group stage with maximum results. Our compatriot, who won 2 victories in group A yesterday, was stronger than Iranian Said Largani in the last round - 5:2. Yusubov, who came out as the leader from the group, did not give a chance to Ukrainian Nazar Doda in the semi-finals – 3:0. Ibrahim faced Oleksey Yakovchuk, another member of the Ukrainian national team, in the final. In a tense match, our experienced wrestler defeated his opponent with a score of 3:2 and rose to the highest step of the podium.
It should be noted that the 3rd stage of the World Series will be held on September 6-7 in Casablanca, Morocco.
