Omar Salmanov Became U15 European Champion: Defeated his Russian opponent in the Final

I became the European champion by defeating my Russian opponent in the final.

"Report" reports that Omar Salmanov, the winner of the U15 European Championship in Greco-Roman wrestling held in Italy, said this in a statement to journalists.

He noted that the championship was intense:

"The competition was very intense, but we prepared well for the championship. We held three training camps. Thank God, I became the champion."

Ö.Salmanov dedicated his victory to his coaches and father: "My first opponent was a Turkish athlete, I won 8:0 and advanced to the ¼ finals. Then I defeated my Latvian opponent and advanced to the semi-finals. In the semi-finals, I defeated the representative of Belarus with a score of 10:1 and advanced to the final. My opponent in the final was a Russian wrestler. I also defeated him 7:5 and became the European champion.

Let us remind you that the Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestling team, which won 1 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals, took first place with 131 points. Armenia (125 points) was second, and Georgia (99 points) was third. As a member of the national team, Omar Salmanov (44 kg) became the European champion by defeating all his opponents. Huseyn Amrahli (38 kg) and Ruslan Nuriyev (75 kg) won silver medals. Khudayar Karimli (38 kg), Huseyn Mustafazade (52 kg) and Nadir Hasanov (62 kg) won bronze medals.

The team became the European champion for the 3rd time. The Greco-Roman wrestling team achieved the same success in 2022 and 2024.
