"This is the fourth time I am competing in the European Championship and the fourth time I am winning a medal. I am happy that I did not return empty-handed, although, of course, I wanted to come here again for "gold". Not everything always turns out the way you want it to".
Idman.Biz reports from Albania that these words were said by Nihat Mammadli, the bronze medalist of the European Championship, after the final match.
He noted that the Azerbaijani national team had seriously prepared for these competitions:
"We held training camps, we prepared very diligently with the team. But apparently, it was not meant to be. I will continue to work in the future and I will do my best to win medals".
Mammadli also added that he does not put the responsibility for his result in the European Championship on anyone:
"I don't compare myself to anyone. Last year I defeated the athlete who is the champion this time. This is sport, anything can happen here. I only see the fault in myself. If there is a mistake, it is in me. I did not approach the meeting correctly, I made wrong decisions, maybe I did not orient myself correctly technically".
