The "Muhamet Malo" international Greco-Roman wrestling tournament held in Tirana, the capital of Albania, has come to an end.
"Report" informs that on the last day of the ranking competition, fights took place in the 55, 60, 72, 82, 97 and 130 kg weight categories, and the members of our national team finished the day with 1 gold and 2 silver medals.
Rashad Mammadov, who competed in the 55 kg weight category, defeated Kyrgyz Ulan Muratbek Ulu (5:1), Kazakh Arsen Juma (9:3) and Indian Lalit Lalit (6:5) to advance to the final, but lost to Russian world medalist and two-time European champion Emin Sefershayev 1:3 in the decisive match and won a silver medal.
At 60 kg, Nihat Mammadli defeated American Maxwell Hopper Black (8:0), Kazakh Yerbol Kamaliev (6:0) and Russian Suner Konunov (3:1) and qualified for the final. In the same weight, Nihad Guluzade defeated Kazakh Akjol Tuyakov (8:2), Turkmen Azatcan Achilov (10:0) and Russian world and European medalist Sadik Lalayev (8:0) and advanced to the decisive stage. In the final match of two compatriots, Nihat Mammadli won gold and Nihad Guluzade won silver based on the first point principle.
At 72 kg, Ruslan Nurullayev eliminated Indian Saurav Rana (9:0) and Hungarian Krisztian Istvan Vancsa (5:1), but lost to Iranian Hojjat Hasan Rezai (3:7) in the semi-final, and to Georgian European medalist Yuri Lomadze (4:7) in the bronze medal match.
At 82 kg, Tuncay Vazirzade defeated Kazakh Almir Tolebayev (4:0) and Kyrgyz two-time Olympic medalist, two-time world and three-time Asian champion Akjol Mahmudov (5:2), but lost to Russian Adlet Tulubayev (1:6) in the semi-final, and to Russian Irakli Kalandiya (1:11) in the bronze medal match.
In the 97 kg weight category, Murad Ahmadiev lost to Georgian Giorgi Melia in the 1/8 final based on the last point principle (2:2), and Muhammad Ahmadiev lost to Russian Artur Sargsyan 2:7 in the qualifying stage. At 130 kg, Sarkhan Mammadov lost to Russian Ali Ilyasov 1:3 in the 1/8 final. Beka Kandelaki defeated Kazakh Alimkhan Syzdykov and Russian Ali Ilyasov with a score of 7:3. Kandelaki, who lost to Russian Marat Kamparov in the semi-final based on the first point principle (1:1), lost to Finnish Elias Kuosmanen 0:3 in the match for third place.
Thus, our national team won a total of 2 gold and 3 silver medals in the first international competition it participated in this year. In the end, our team, which scored 128 points, took 1st place in the team standings, Kazakhstan (95) was second, and Iran (89) was third.
