Azerbaijani wrestler and bronze medalist of the Paris Olympic Games, Magomedkhan Magomedov, will face Kazakh world champion Rizabek Aitmukhan at the prestigious PWL tournament in Sakhalin on December 14.
Idman.Biz reports that the 27-year-old Magomedov is a finalist of the 2023 World Championship, the 2024 European champion, and a bronze medalist of the Paris Olympics.
He is considered one of the leading Azerbaijani athletes, constantly competing at the highest level. Currently, the leading wrestler of the Azerbaijani national team is trying to avenge his unexpected defeat at the Islamic Games in Riyadh.
It is worth recalling that 21-year-old Aitmukhan defeated Magomedov in the quarter-finals of the Islamic Solidarity Games, one of the surprises of the tournament. It is this fight that adds special interest to the upcoming fight: the Azerbaijani is trying to prove that the previous failure was accidental and to regain leadership in the head-to-head competition.
It should be noted that Magomedov has been representing Azerbaijan in freestyle wrestling since 2022. For his services to Azerbaijani sports, he was awarded the 3rd degree "For Service to the Motherland" order in 2024.
