Viktor Avdyshev, the USSR champion in Greco-Roman wrestling and former head of the Kiev organized crime group, has died.
According to Lent.az, the 69-year-old Avdyshev died of heart failure. He was a bronze medalist at the World Championships in 1978 and 1983.
In 1989, he headed the Kiev organized crime group. Although he was arrested in 1995, he managed to escape to Azerbaijan. In the same year, the court sentenced him in absentia to 4 years of imprisonment, and he was put on the international wanted list.
